Corpus Christi was discovered in the southern coast of Texas by Spanish explorer Alonzo Alvarez de Pineda in the early 1500s and is now the biggest city on the Texas coast and the 6th largest port within the nation with major industries such as petrochemical, healthcare, tourism, retail, education, military, agriculture and shipping and it is also a regional center for marketing and distributing agricultural commodities in the county, apart from being home to many famous museums and galleries and a cultural hub.
